I love masking effects, I use them in my videos a lot and they are tons of fun. I suggest you experiment with masking text layers as well, so the point what you are explaining appears behind you or the person speaking in the video. Makes a super cool room vibe and is not difficult to do, requires patience though :D

Best tip I could offer is export to after effects and do masking there because it doesnt suck there.

I'm actually having trouble creating the mask itself. When I make the surrounding mask and apply, something is wrong and it'a applying Gausing Blur, in this instance to MOST OF THE SHOT, instead of the small dead pixel within the mask... Help?

I did this once and it worked but something messed up at the end, so I just started the whole project over, NOW every time I finish the mask path, it doesn’t complete and give the black background… I don’t understand what’s happening and why it’s not working…

Ive heard that masking in Premiere could drive one crazy but I was still optimistic, because I’ve done some pretty epic and advanced masking in Final Cut and said to myself hey, how bad could it actually be in Premiere?

Boy was I in for a rude awakening

I was attempting a “superhero, landing effect in premiere Pro, which required me to mask myself jumping and landing in a superhero like stance….
YEAH RIGHT 😂🤣

in a nutshell my points would just move randomly which drove me crazy after spending hours on the key framing. After about 5+ hours of the points not staying locked in placed and shifting my mask I just gave up.
Very disappointing

Why bother having a pen tool when it’s so horrendous to use?

Masking was never so difficult in Final Cut.

Patiently waiting for Premiere to be worth the price Adobe’s charging
