In the third installment of the I2C series, I will show you two ways to interface a 3.3-volt Raspberry Pi with a 5-volt Arduino Uno. Article with code samples - 🤍 More tutorials and articles - 🤍 Join us on the forum and have your say - 🤍 Sign up for the newsletter - 🤍 Today we are back working with the I2C bus, and this time we’ll be interfacing an Arduino with a Raspberry Pi. By hooking an Arduino to a Raspberry Pi we can get the best of both worlds. The Raspberry Pi is a powerful single-board computer, capable of running a Linux operating system and connecting natively to the internet. The Arduino is a very capable microcontroller with several I/O pins, an Analog to Digital converter, and precise timing and interrupt capabilities. Together, they make an incredible team. But one issue is that the two devices use different logic levels. The Raspberry Pi GPIO (General Purpose Input/.Output) bus operates using 3.3-volt logic, while most Arduino’s use 5-volt logic. Incorrectly interfacing them can lead to a non-functional Raspberry Pi, a situation best avoided! You CAN hook the two devices together directly, providing that certain specific conditions are met. Alternatively, you can use a very inexpensive logic level converter to isolate the 3.3-volt and 5-volt logic safely. In this video, I will show you both methods. *Correction* ESP32-S3 has 1 × DVP 8-bit ~16-bit camera interface. Both the Arduino Portenta H7 and Espressif ESP32-S3 are dual-core operating MCUs. The price difference between the two devices is huge. I'm going to see if it's worth it through this video. Also, you can find the source code used here on my Github repository. Review of the 37 Sensors and Modules Kit (Version 2) for Raspberry Pi and Arduino Last year, I did a video review of Sunfounder's 37 sensors and modules kit for the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. They've recently updated the kit with a version 2 that includes updated modules and better instructions. In this video, I'm going to take a look at each sensor in the V.2 kit and explain a little about how each sensor works and what it can be used for. It's a really nice kit to have, especially if you're just starting out in DIY electronics. There are enough sensors to keep you busy for a very long time! Not really a head-to-head, but more of an investigation into what either the Orange Pi Zero or Raspberry Pi Zero can offer us Arduinites. I mean, what is it all about, and how do you program using Python anyway? We take a brief (well, 30 minute) look at what either of these two boards can offer us, and how they might even supplant the Arduino in an embedded system. Or can they? Were they easy to set up? And what is all this "zero" nonsense in the model's name? And the prices? Compared to an Arduino Uno, for example, are they even in the same ball park? The pack leader is Raspberry; Orange is an open-source pretender to the throne. Which one is better? Cheaper? Nicer? These, and further questions are posed and almost answered, albeit that only YOU can actually give the answer that's right for you!
