In this Inkscape tutorial you’ll learn how to remove the background from a photo for free. Inkscape is free design software similar to Photoshop and Illustrator however, Inkscape is totally free to use. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to use the Bezier tool to trace out the object you want to remove from the background and then how to use the Clip feature to pop that image right out of the background. I’ll also go over how to remove smaller sections of your photo if needed. There’s no need to pay for apps that do this for you when you can remove the background from a photo for free with Inkscape. Inkscape is professional, free, open source Vector Graphics software. Notes from this tutorial: ⦁ To move the Inkscape page up and down: use the scroll wheel in the mouse. ⦁ To move the page around: Hold down the scroll wheel in the mouse. ⦁ To zoom in or out the page: Hold down the Ctrl key in your keyboard and use the scroll wheel in the mouse. ⦁ To draw an object, use the objects bar at the left: click on the arrow first, then select the object you want to drag into the page, like a square, circle, etc.. ⦁ Once the object is on the page, click again in the arrow to have options to modify the object dimensions by dragging the small arrows. ⦁ We can deselect the object by clicking in white space on the page or the scape key in the keyboard. By clicking on the object it will show the arrows again. ⦁ While is selected, if we left-click on the object again, it will show a different set of arrows that will allow us to change skew and rotation of the object. ⦁ The + sign in the center of the object act as a rotation axel, mining the object will rotate around it. That + sign could be moved even outside of the page and the object will rotate around it when using the rotation arrows. ⦁ We can change the color of an object by selecting it on the colors bar. ⦁ By holding down the shift key and selecting a color we can change the stroke color or borders of the object. Learn how to turn bitmap images (like photos) into vectors to use in your designs. You can follow along with this video using the images below. I show you how to turn simple bitmap designs and photos into vector images. In this video I show you how to use Trace Bitmap’s single scan option to create a single path from your images. Then I use the boolean operators (path functions) to combine the images into a single design. I show you how to convert your design into a Clip Group and fill it with a photo of a sunset. I also create a radial gradient background with an inset boarder. I run through a few useful features such as fitting the page to your design, removing unwanted elements from your design, using the swatch and path settings at the bottom screen and more.
