*I have still yet to hear/see a PS5 playing Astrobot without coil whine, PROVE ME WRONG and post a video, otherwise you are lying! None of these units have a noisy fan or loose label and all have the 23 blade fan variant! Tested our 3 PlayStation 5’s and all have coil whine. Spoke with Sony and they initially told me to try plugging directly into a power outlet and not via a surge protected adapter which didn’t change anything (I have no idea how this would affect anything, maybe a possible floating earth causing a ground loop issue, but I thought this would only affect audio equipment??) before asking for videos of the sounds which I am currently waiting for a response on. Note: My brother played Spider-Man on his this morning and it has a notable louder pitch than the other 2. Apologies for the poor editing etc of this video. Update: Sony are not replacing the consoles, apparently this sound is “normal” system sound the all fully working PS5’s emit according to their technical representatives. So I am now guessing that ALL PS5’s emit some sort of coil whine noise.

Repair/Trick start from 1:49 I get my PS5 with an annoying sound like UFO sound. When I play the game I can still use ambient sound or headphone to hide the sound. However, I found the sound still coming when the console in resting mode, and let me cannot sleep very well as my bed only have around 4 meters to PS5. Until today, I found one Reddit post which claims that you can simply fix that by close the USB hub power supply in your PS5 setting panel. It really works and simple. I guess PS5's capacitor may provide temporary charging for a while like 15-30mins. That's why if your console still can be silent in resting mode. However, after like 30 mins, the ufo sound comes back again. For the final reason of high-pitch sound, I guess it still has a relationship with the fan power supply. As when people try to remove the fan totally or unplug the fan, the high-pitch sound just gone. So really feel a bit disappointed about Sony, although is far away better than PS4 airline... Lasst euch davon aber nicht täuschen, denn ich habe die Audioaufnahme "extrem" verstärken müssen und bin mit einem sehr empfindlichen Mikrofon an den Lüfterschlitzen gewesen. Es gibt in der Aufnahme auf jeden Fall das Spulenfiepen (Coil Whine) zu hören.
Let’s get some things out of the way: -It is NOT a sticker that came loose -It is NOT the fan -It is NOT vibration from the side plates To those that have suggested any of the above, I appreciate you trying to help, but this is 100% coil whine. Yes, I have seen a few cases of the above, but I have ruled those out in my case. This can be heard from my ten feet away seating position. For those that are saying I need to be close to get the recording, that’s because a phone doesn’t pick it up well, but human ears certainly do. The buzzing is loudest on the bottom, near the back of the system, where the PSU is located. It changes pitch and volume by simply moving the camera in a game. 60fps PS5 games make it louder because they draw more power, causing the PSU to whine. This can be tested easily by going from in-game to the PS5 Home Screen. The buzzing instantly lowers, as the system draw has lessened. A fan would not act this way, as the speed is dependent on temperature sensors. There are hundreds of people on resetera claiming their system makes an audible noise that can be heard at a distance. There are many other YouTube videos of people experiencing this noise. I advise everyone to call Sony and complain about this issue if you have it. Does this compromise the performance of the console? No. Does it ruin the experience? Yes. Coil whine is 100% preventable, so do not believe people that tell you “everything does it, it’s normal!” They are wrong. This can absolutely be corrected with proper gluing of the PSU coils to stop the frequency generating vibrations. GameSpot and Push Square have posted misleading articles claiming a sticker is to blame for people hearing coil whine. Do not let their clickbait titles fool you. Coil whine comes from the PSU, not the fan. There is a large scale issue with coil whine on PS5. Those articles have now created an army of misinformed people telling everyone their coil whine is a sticker. Let’s address the next worthless comment. “This is what you get for buying a new console!” How do these fools think the issues get worked out in later revisions? By people like me not accepting them and exposing the issue. You’re welcome! This will not be fixed by people staying quiet about it. Oh, and saying you can’t hear it with headphones on just makes you sound silly. We shouldn’t have to wear headphones. 🤍 🤍

I purchased my first console on launch day and it had all kinds of issues. It was freezing and crashing multiple times, and also was noticably loud. The fan was quiet but it had a bad case of coil whine from the power supply, a loud buzz you could hear across the room. The second unit, you can really only hear the fan whirling. In case anyone is wondering, the first model was manufactured/assembled in August from China. My second PlayStation 5 was manufactured in November from Japan.
When I play games like Valhalla or Demon’s souls it gets louder but quieter when not playing a game. I really didn’t pay attention to it because it is not noticeable unless I pause the game. Don’t know if it’s the gpu, psu or the fan

hello, I have a ps5 that makes a noise only with ps5 games, with ps4 games it does not make the noise, I have seen that it is "Coil whine buzzing" is this under warranty? someone else with this noise? and now that there are no ps5 things, is it convenient to send for repair or wait?
Having coil whine noise when I play games, the noise is not present in the menu though. I am ok with the noise of the fan it doesn't bother me much, but I am not ok with that constant changing humming buzzing coil whine noise it is very annoying to me. UPDATE: I called Sony and I sent the playtation back to them, but they didn't repair anything, the noise is still the same as before, thank you for nothing Sony. Plus in addition, they just sent me back the console without my original box where I put my ps5 to send it, now I just have the console without the box, pretty much sucks when I wanna sell my PS5. What the hell is actually wrong with Sony? A good hint, if you haven't bought a playstation 5 yet but intend to buy one, don't, go buy a Xbox which is dead silent and does not have issues with WiFi.
Noticeable coil whine or buzzing coming from my PS5. It really ramps up and gets louder in more intense games. This video is during Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

It's a little quieter at startup and gets louder when starting a game. I can hear it across the room (15+ feet) and during quiet spots in movies or games. Very distracting.
hello this is ps5 while playing Spiderman Miles Morales. Is this normal thing or defective piece? Is there anything you can do about it? Does this somehow damage the console? or leave it at that?
