In this video I'm going to show you how to add a blurry border to the sides of vertical video in Premiere Pro CC 2021. In order to blur the sides of a vertical video we will first adjust the settings of of sequence, then we will use scale and position effects to get rid of the black bars on each side of a vertical video or portrait photo and then we will use the Gaussian Blur effect to create the blurry background or blur the edges or blur the sides or the blurry border, however you want to describe it. I show how to do this with Premiere Pro, but the same process would work with any video editor... To get a blurred background in premiere pro, first drop some footage onto your timeline. Next, go to your effects panel and drop gaussian blur onto your video. Now draw a mask around the object you want to keep in the foreground (not blur) with the pen / bezier tool. Next, increase the blurriness to your desired blur level.
